World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades are a way to boost the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade it can increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity and boost additional stats.
Each item comes with a track for upgrading it. item upgrader increases the cost of the next one by a set amount.
Item Level
The value of an item's stats base increases when it is upgraded. The value is the sum of all its leveled up advantages (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrades to items can be costly, depending on the upgrader you choose and what kind of upgrade you decide to perform. This is due to the sheer number of perks that must be altered to upgrade an item.
It can also be used as a gating requirement while waiting for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It also serves as a gating requirement when waiting for dungeons, scenarios, and raids, as well as to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear (since PvP is capped at the lower levels). Players can view their average item level in their character sheet.
Utilizing the level of an item will allow players to compare the strength of equipment when choosing to buy or sell. It's an indicator of the damage and quality. Comparing items from a vendor's stock is possible using the item level.
The level of the item can be checked by pressing the ALT key on a PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. The item will be displayed with its full description, including ilvl. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel into chat.
There are a few theories on how the calculation of the item's level is made. One theory states that the item level is calculated by formulas that determine the value of an item's stats actually are. It considers the fact that different perks have different worth, and also that gems in sockets increase the item's overall value. This can result in a calculated amount for the item's level, which is usually close to Blizzard's actual level of the item.
However, this is not the only factor that affects an item's ilvl, since the level of the region the item was dropped in could alter the value of its stats, for instance by adding an amount to its crit rating or haste rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have higher value than items dropped in lower-level instances.
Item Stats
Item stats are a big element in what determines the value of an item for players. item upgrading utilizes them in a variety of ways to encourage players not to limit themselves to one weapon and to motivate them to try out other weapons. The stat mods on weapons boost base stats. These stat mods are then boosted by the player's level.
Item upgrades add to that by increasing certain stats of the item. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item. For example, a grey or white item can only be upgraded once, while items with rare tiers will be upgraded several times at higher prices.
Affixes can also be used to change an item's stats. They are stat boosts that can be added by the player to an item. The affixes are used to provide items with extra damage, special capabilities (such as the ability to revive dead or reduce cooling downs), or to make them unique by adding a name.
All affixes can be currently re-rolled by selecting them in the upgrade window pressing the green button. It will cost a set amount in gold and items. These can be used as upgrade gauges, as with other rerolling methods.
Players can choose to upgrade an item to specific stats or reroll the affixes. The range of stats determined by the item's level. However each item will have at least one stat within the same range, unless it's an exclusive item or the item is a God Roll from a boss in a raid.
Another thing that could be altered by adding the option to upgrade the equipment without rolling the affixes or deciding which stats to boost. Similar to the base equipment, this would have to be done per item and the interface for item comparison would not display all the possible stats simultaneously.
Item Luck
The Luck stat of a player stacks up to increase the odds of finding items, the properties spawned on loot drops and the strength of the properties. It does not, however, directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives the player an opportunity to get better gear earlier in the game. This is particularly useful for early game runs, because players tend to put the scaling of weapons and defenses over raw damage gains.
Luck can also boost the chances of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chances of upgrading that increase with each item level. They can also be increased with the use of anti-materials such as a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.
Weapons, shields, and armor can spawn or be crafted by using the Luck property, with the default value of 40. These items can be improved with golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the type of material) to add another 40 luck or to boost the Luck of an item up to 140.
Furthermore there are certain items, such as the Hollow weapon that is infused with hollow, can be equipped to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items can be found in the shops or made using the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Upgrades to items are expensive and not all upgrades will be successful. However, there are some cash shop items that allow players to increase their success rate or prevent themselves from losing an item if the upgrade fails.
When you upgrade an item the success rate is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage is the chances of successfully upgrading the item and can be enhanced by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The probability of success can only be increased so much, and the likelihood that the upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%.

The luck of an item can also influence the success of an upgrade. All items have an average success rate of 25% and each item with Luck increases the chance of success by an additional 5percent.
The upgrade overlays for items are displayed above items in the inventory. This can obscure enchantment effects and other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
